EK 4-61

New designed model of the ice-refrigerator car type EK 4-61from VEB Waggonbau Dessau.

These cars were built in parallel with the machine-refrigerator cars type MK 4-61 (see items 01143/01144). Seventy cars of this type were delivered to the Deutsche Reichsbahn. An autonomous power supply via a cardan shaft generator on a bogie enabled air circulation for cooling via the ice bunkers located at the fronts during travel.
