Clockwork-railway gauge 0 1925 - 1942 The tinplate models were wound up with a key and ran for about 50 meters. Today the springs of the clockwork mechanism's have become worn and now run shorter distances. The most important and largest manufacturer was "Bing" of Nürnberg. "Bing" cancelled their entire production in 1932 and a large part of this was transferred to the firm "Karl Bub". During the mid 30's "Märklin" from Göppingen started to produce some original products (from the German Reichsbahn) and set high quality standards coupled with new ideas for the toy market. |
| Zeuke gauge 0 railway 1948 - 1966 Werner Zeuke produced his first model railway in his mechanical workshop (Berlin-Köpenik) in 1945/46. At first he built his models with engines originally used by the German army in wings of warbirds. The bodies were made of aluminium. In 1948 the locomotive T48 was built and in 1950 the streamline locomotive FD 50 followed in 1952 by the tank locomotive T 55. The last development was the E 44 and a rail bus but neither went into serious production. The railway construction shown in the museum is from the 1950's by the father of a Saxon family. Since that date the railway has never been changed. The accessories used are from several former Saxon producers. |
